BIOGRAPHY OF RUDYARD KIPLING
Writer and Poet

Rudyard Kipling, one of the world’s most famous writers, was born in Bombay, India in 1865. He was the son of a civil servant under the British government. Kipling spent his early childhood in India. When he was six, he moved to Englang together with his family.
He went back to India. When he was six he moved to English school paper. Then he went back to India and worked for a newspaper. He wrote a lot of articles for the paper. When he was twenty-one he published his first book. It was a small book of poetry. In the following few years he published short stories. A great number of people especially children, liked reading his works.
During the Victorian age, Kipling wrote several of his popular works. Most of his stories took place in his birthplace, India. Some of his works include Plain Tales from the Hill (1888), The Jungle Books (1894), Kim (1901) and Just So Stories (1902). He also published several books of poetry during this time. Then he traveled around the world. He visited China, Japan and America. In the country of “Uncle Sam”, he metand married an American women. There they lived happily for a few years. In 1907, Kipling won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Later in the decade, had to return to England from America, and spent the rest of his life there. He died in 1936 at the age of 71 years old.
